Read The Real Reason Why Gen. Buhari Is Travelling To The US [MUST READ]

Contrary to claims that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress [APC], is travelling to the United States for medical reasons, Premium Times has obtained a correspondence indicating Mr. Buhari is only honouring an invitation by the Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies [CSIS].

Media reports had suggested some days ago that the APC candidate had become so sick that he was planning a medical trip abroad.

Mr. Buhari responded by saying he was not sick but only had cold. But Premium Times has now obtained a letter signed by the Director, African Programme of CSIS, Jennifer Cooke, inviting Mr. Buhari to the organisation’s headquarters in Washington DC “to give a major public address on Nigeria’s future as it stands on the edge of a pivotal national elections.”

Ms. Cooke gave Mr. Buhari the liberty to choose a convenient date for the proposed lecture. “We propose to hold this event on a day of your choosing on either the week of January 5th or the week of January 26th, 2015 but will of course do our best to accommodate your schedule should you have other preferences.”

Travelling at this time would mean Mr. Buhari opted for the week of January 26th. Ms. Cooke who said the event is expected to attract a large number of United State policymakers, academics, business leaders and members of the diaspora, also told Mr. Buhari that he would be expected to take part in a private off-the-record briefing with a small group of senior US government officials and U.S Congress.

2015 ELECTIONS: Fake Medical Report Claims APC Presidential Candidate "GEN. BUHARI" Has Cancer [PHOTO]

APC Presidential Candidate, Muhammadu Buhari

A fake medical report has been released online claiming to show that the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC),Muhammadu Buhari has cancer.
The obviously falsified report is dated October 16 2014 and states Buhari’s age as 72. However, the former Head of State turned 72 on December 7, almost two months later.

The report also states the name of the hospital as “Ahmadu Bello Teaching Hospital” but the real name is “Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital.”

Buhari’s Campaign Director, Media and Publicity, Garba Shehuhas refuted the rumours of ill-health via a statement saying:

“It (report of cancer) is untrue and condescending of its exponents. I have it on good authority that GMB has not visited the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in the last five years. So, how can anyone say that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer last October, barely three months ago?”

“This is the highest point of political distraction, malice and mischief. The report was not only fake but unfounded. I have spoken to impeccable sources at ABUTH all of whom deny the report and also claimed that the letterhead used was not their regular one, and that Dr. Bala Mohammed that purportedly approved the false medical report is not on the personnel list of that department.”

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose stated earlier that Buhari was being set up by former President, Olusegun Obasanjo to die in office just like late President, Umar Yar’adua.

Politicians Are Liars - RCCG Leader

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Enoch Adeboye has reportedly stated that he doesn't trust politicians because they are liars.

Pastor Adeboye stated this on Friday, January 16, during a visit to Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Punch reports.

The respected cleric, who was at the institution for a two-day interdenominational prayer session, also added that politicians are not trustworthy because they don’t fulfill promises made.

“I don’t trust politicians; politicians are liars. They don’t fulfil most of their promises. A politician can tell you that they will give all of you (students) chicken each, which we all know it is impossible,”Adeboye said.

The Pastor also urged Nigerians to stop worrying about the outcome of the presidential elections saying that God the “master planner” had already planned the leadership development of Nigeria.

The Vice-Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yemi Osinbajo is a pastor at the RCCG and is also said to be a close associate of Adeboye’s.

I Will Support Anybody, But Not Jonathan - Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has again escalated his rejection of President Goodluck Jonathan’s 2nd term bid by declaring his current mindset to be “Anything But Jonathan” (ABJ).

He expressed his feelings to several of his aides after his widely publicized meeting with Jonathan.

Jonathan’s closed-door meeting with Obasanjo clearly failed to soften the former leader’s hostility towards his floundering re-election bid as Obasanjo bluntly told him that having referred to elders as a “touts”, it was hypocritical for Jonathan to turn around to describe him (Obasanjo) as the best president Nigeria ever had.

READ ALSO: See Pres. Jonathan And Gen. Buhari Hugging And Holding Hands [PICS]
If Jonathan believes Obasanjo is Nigeria's best president, why does he allow his boy to insult him?

To make matters worse, a few hours after meeting with Jonathan, Obasanjo met with leaders of the APC and their presidential candidate, Muhammad Buhari, where he affirmed he will support the best candidate for the office of President in 2015, regardless of party affiliation.

It would be recalled that on Sunday, while receiving members of the Northern Elders Council in Abuja, an angry Jonathan had in a barely-veiled description of Obasanjo, dismissed some statesmen.

"Some people call themselves statesmen but they are not, they are just ordinary politicians,” Jonathan told his guests. “To be a statesman is not because you have occupied a big office before, but the question is what are you bringing to bear? Are you building this country or are you a part of people who tell lies to destroy the country?”

Upon arriving at the meeting with Obasanjo today, Jonathan tried to turn on the charm, lavishing praise on Obasanjo as he blamed the escalation of attacks on him as the work of his (Jonathan) aides.

According to SR, Obasanjo apparently did not buy any of the goods Jonathan was hawking. Shortly after the encounter, he told his aides he would not change his position on Jonathan’s presidential bid.

Obasanjo’s subsequent and open display of affection towards the APC leadership is reportedly sending shock waves up and down Jonathan’s camp, where it is regarded as confirmation that the reconciliation efforts with Obasanjo have collapsed, leaving him in grave political danger with the election just one month away.

This will be the first time a PDP candidate tried to win the presidency with Obasanjo not the candidate, or firmly on his side.

2015 ELECTIONS: Jonathan Vows To Create 2 Million Jobs Yearly If He Is Re-Elected

The president was cited by the News Agency of Nigeria as saying he will produce jobs for the crowded jobless inhabitants in Nigeria.

Jonathan did not say how that will happen, after mainly worsening to provide as many jobs in the last six years as president.

As well corruption and insecurity, the Jonathan’s government is obstinately criticized over the huge unemployed population in Nigeria.

The presidency has always pointed to its Small and Medium Scale support agenda, Youwin, which gives grants to only 1,200 people annually.

The government says the programme has involved hundreds of thousands, a figure that has been asked.

According to Premium Times, the government has also failed to defend its statement that it produced 1.6 million jobs in 2013.

At the Ibadan campaign, Mr. Jonathan also praised South-West chiefs for endorsing fairness, human rights, saying he will endure to respect and work with people from the zone.

Jonathan also said the votes of Nigerian women will either release or sanction them to the kitchen, advicing women to vote for PDP.

It should be noted that the Vice Presidential Candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Yemi Osinbajo recently promised 720,000 jobs and a social security scheme for every elderly or disabled Nigerian in the first year of ruling if elected.

Notwithstanding, Lagos State remains the commercial nerve center of Nigeria. With a population estimated at about 20million equivalent of 32 African Countries combined, Lagos State is the sixth largest economy in Africa. However, with the rebased GDP of Nigeria put at N80trillion, Lagos has a per capita income of $2,900.00 compared to the national average of $1,700.00. As such, our immediate and future task is to make Lagos work for everyone. This is a task that we have committed ourselves to attaining in the next four years by focusing on the following: Security, Economy, Infrastructure, Healthcare, Social Welfare and Good Governance.

WIKI LEAKS: Tinubu Feared Buhari Would Destroy Nigeria [MUST READ]

APC presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari

Another disclosure has been obtained in relation to Nigeria’s politics from the infamous WikiLeaks organization, which publishes secret documents.

It would be recalled that last week a Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Reuben Abati, shared a scandalous extract from the WikiLeaks document, containing numerous allegations related to Muhammadu Buhari.

The presidential race ahead of the 2015 elections becomes more challenging with every single day. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) picked Goodluck Jonathan to represent the party, while the former military Head of State, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), emerged the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate.

Less than 2 months are left before the Nigerians are to make their choice. This period is being marked not only by serious war of words, but also some past data, which become relevant in the course of the current happenings in the country.

Thus, in a WikiLeaks document dating back to 2003, it is contained that Bola Tinubu (Lagos State Governor at that time) urged the Alliance for Democracy to support Olusegun Obasanjo over Buhari.

See the quote from the paper titled “Lagos State Governor’s Views On Iraq, National Elections, And AGOA”

Wikileaks-Tinubu-On-Buhari

“6. (C) Turning to the presidential contest, Tinubu disclosed that he does not like President Obasanjo because he contributed to the end of democracy in Nigeria during his tenure as a military president and is now benefiting from that history. That said, Tinubu admitted that he and his party, the Alliance for Democracy, must support Obasanjo.

Southwest Nigeria is Yoruba land and the President is Yoruba. Tinubu’s party had no choice since it has not fielded a presidential candidate. Moreover, Obasanjo is the only candidate who stands a chance of blocking his rival, General Muhammadu Buhari, whose ethnocentrism would jeopardize Nigeria’s national unity.

Buhari and his ilk are agents of destabilization who would be far worse than Obasanjo. Tinubu and many other governors are therefore implementing a strategy to re-elect Obasanjo, partly in an effort to prevent Sharia from spreading. Tinubu predicted that the President will follow his own course, if re-elected, since he will not need as many friends the second time around.”

You can read the full transcript of the meeting HERE.

The recent period could be characterized as the season of leaked documents. Yesterday the APC governorship candidate for Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, shared the alleged PDP’s “Plan B” apparently to be used in case of their failure in 2015. The paper contains however neither names nor signatures, therefore its origin cannot be ascertained.

POLITICS: All Political Aspirants To Go For Psychiatric Test

The President of of the Nigeria Medical Association, Dr Kayode Obembe has advocated that all politicians vying for political positions in the country must mandatorily go for a psychiatric test before they are allowed to contest. He also recommended to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to register all psychiatric doctors in the country for that effect.

Dr Obembe's position stems from the fact that politicians carry on as if they are mentally deranged when they are voted into power with they way they arrogate powers to themselves, forgetting the people that voted them in, looting public funds without recourse to the people as well as the decisions they take while in office.

Many Nigerians in the past have clamoured for this tests as a necessary criteria for politicians and with the President of the NMA coming out to state this position, it has now become a matter of necessity.

Entertainers in politics and what they stand for [MUST READ]

Simply put, entertainers are supposed to be people paid or hired to entertain the people. Their primary purpose should be to provide amusement, make us laugh and generally draw us out of depressions. But right now in Nigeria, entertainers are finding more meaning to their primary roles.
They are moving away from ‘entertaining’ us to aspiring to ‘ruling’ us as they are joining politics.

It is unclear how the revolution of interest started; but no sooner one entertainer expressed his intention to run for an elective position than the others joined in – in droves. At present count, no fewer than 13 entertainers have expressed their interests to run in the 2015 general elections.

Is this their way of amusing us again? Far from it. Many of them think they have a good chance. Many more believe they have as much right as anyone to seek political offices and perhaps even more qualified than some of the so-called politicians.

“ Entertainment as an industry has contributed immensely to the growth of the Nigerian economy and as such, it is not absurd or strange that those who have contributed to the growth of the economy should want to partake in politics to serve” says actor Desmond Elliot, who’s gunning for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

From west to east, north to south, they have sprouted up, according to some of them, to partake in the governance of their people. There is even an issue of conflict, with two popular entertainers competing for the same seat. The Idemili North Constituency seat of Anambra State is being contested for by Tony Muonagor known as Tony One-Week and Bob Manuel-Udokwu.

In this edition, Potpourri looks at the promises, hopes and beliefs of these entertainers.

Entertainers have leadership mindset– Tony One-Week

Actor, singer and comedian Tony Muanogor aka Tony One-Week has had a bit of bitter experience when it comes to seeking elective posts. When he lost out in the 2005 Actors Guild of Nigeria elections, he relocated from Lagos to Abuja where he joined the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. He was in PDP for about four years and when he realised he could not get a ticket he left in 2009.

He is now the Minority Leader in the Anambra State House of Assembly, representing Idemili North Constituency, flying the All Progressives Congress, APC, flag. But his position is being eyed by another entertainer who believes Tony has not delivered on his promises to the people he represents. Ironically, some years ago, Tony called on other entertainers to come into politics, saying they have the leadership mindset. “We, entertainers, are like children. An entertainer does not keep anything in his mind. We are not very rigid. We are jolly fellows and this is the kind of mindset we need in the leadership of the country. If you have an entertainer that has the basic educational qualification and is exposed, then you can get your perfect leader” he said.

The question now is, would he have been so complacent and at ease with himself if he had known an entertainer would one day gun for his own very seat? Only Tony can say.

If you want change, not money, vote me – Kate Henshaw

    Kate-Henshaw1

Some are of the opinion that Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw is the number one actress with most endorsement. That, in some sense means she is rich, at least rich enough to have her meal wherever and whenever she wants it. But the aspiring legislator for the Federal House of Representatives, Calabar Municipal/Odukpani Federal Constituency under the PDP isn’t ready to share any money.

“There’s no money. I can’t match the people who have been in the system for 20 to 30 years. I’m going with God and my heart. I’m not sharing money. If you continue sharing money, it will never stop. If you want a change, a true change, then vote for me and you’ll see the change. But if you want money, hey, go for money and stay where you are and don’t ever complain” she says in an interview.

In the same interview with Sahara TV, the actress cited lengthy stays in politics as reason for much of the problems in Nigeria, on top of corruption on the part of government officials.

“I don’t hope to be there forever. I just want to do, make noise, leave when the ovation is loudest. That’s the best way. I don’t want to be there for 10 years, 12 years, 16 years, that’s the best way. I want to do other things. 4- 8 years. That’s the limit…you can hold me to my word” she declares.

NASS/APC data centre police invasion: Nda-Isaiah blasts presidency

As DSS releases 25 arrested APC staff, three still in detention

PUBLISHER of Leadership Newspapers and All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential aspirant, Dr. Sam Ndah-Isaiah, has condemned last week’s invasion of National Assembly complex by the police and Lagos APC data centre by the Department of State Service,
DSS, describing it as a deliberate act by the Presidency to collapse democracy in the country.

This came even as DSS released 25 out of 28 arrested persons at the APC data centre in Ikeja.

Ndah-Isaiah who made the remarks, yesterday, in an interview with Vanguard on the state of the nation, noted that the rising impunity and lawlessness on the part of the Federal Government in the country’s body polity was scary.

He said,“I think the President deliberately wanted to collapse the system. I don’t know why the stakeholders in the democracy are trying to pull it down. This is not the kind of democracy we are asking for. All of us fought the military to have democracy. What is happening in National Assembly, the president is behind it. The talk about the Inspector General of Police, IGP, is not the case. How could IG invade National Assembly, if not ordered directly from the president? not even the vice president can give such an order.

“This is the president using the state institutions for personal attacks, bugging the opposition party offices. The level of lawlessness, the level of impunity and total absence of rule of law in this country is scary. We have to rescue ourselves. I am sure Nigerians are not ready to walk into an open disaster. If he (President) wants to use these tactics to harass the opposition I don’t think it will work.”

DSS invasion of APC data office

Meantime, the Publicity Secretary of Lagos APC, Mr. Joe Igbokwe, yesterday, confirmed the release of 25 out of the 28 arrested staff at party data centre by DSS. Igbokwe said the DSS released the staff after interrogating them adding that they were asked to report back on Monday for further investigation.

Igbokwe, however, said that three were still being held at press time as 28 persons were actually arrested on the day of the invasion by the DSS. while calling for an independent enquiry into the armed invasion, he said that, “nothing, not even the deployment of illegal brute force, would deter Nigerians from pursuing the truth and setting themselves free from the shackles of oppression by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP led Federal Government.”

Govt raises alarm over scammers impersonating Fashola

The Lagos State Government, weekend, again urged residents to be wary of fraudsters who create fake facebook accounts of Governor Babatunde Fashola to extort money from unsuspecting people. In a statement by the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Mr. Hakeem Bello, reiterated that the governor does not do business on facebook adding that although he has a facebook and twitter accounts, those are used strictly for communicating government policies and programmes when necessary.

“Governor Fashola SAN, does not do business on facebook. He does not operate a facebook account that asks people to make cash donations in any bank account”.

Bello explained that the caution was informed when the state government’s attention was drawn to the latest activities of a certain individual who attempted to defraud a popular artiste by demanding that a certain percentage of money be paid into an account to facilitate the processing of a large sum of money in the SURE-P Empowerment Fund for the artiste, stressing that “members of the public should beware of such scammers.”

While warning the people against falling prey to such fraudsters who are impersonating the governor in attempts to swindle innocent residents on the various social media platforms, Bello said that security men were already on the trail of the conman and would leave no stone unturned to ensure that he and his likes are brought to justice.

The Speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly, Hon. Ikuforiji, has, meantime, condemned the attack on one of the offices of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos, saying it is a dangerous signal and a threat to the democratic process.

Speaking to reporters in Lagos, the Speaker said few days after the ugly incidents at the House of Representatives where the Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal and most of the APC lawmakers were prevented from gaining access to the House, and Ekiti State where seven lawmakers out of 26 impeached the Speaker, the invasion of the APC office by officials of the Department of State Service and the Police is clear indication that the democratic process was in grave danger.

He said there was no way the DSS and the Police would have acted without order from above, adding that the blatant abuse of power and rule of law was becoming the hallmark of the President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration. Ikuforiji said,“What is really going on in our country? Just few days after the Lagos House condemned in the strongest term the ugly scenario at the National Assembly, the invasion of the APC office is uncalled for and should be condemned by all Nigerians who want a country where the rule of law and due process take precedence over barbarism. This is totally unacceptable.”

I’M YET TO SEE THE PARTY THAT CAN BEAT PDP – GOODLUCK JONATHAN BOASTS

President Jonathan has revealed the secret of his success in life which is not forcing things to happen. He says he never gets the things he wants when he tries to force things to happen.Speaking while hosting members of the Presidential Declaration Committee on Wednesday, he begged politicians not to make politics a do or die affair saying:

“In my own life, the things I look for I hardly get. It’s what I don’t even think about that I get sometimes. I believe most of you will smile. But collectively, first and foremost, let us unite the party and work together for our collective victory. Let me use this unique opportunity to plead with all of us who are aspiring for electoral offices that the world does not begin and end with the office you are looking for.

“Sometimes, you would be looking for an office; you may not be able to get it for one reason or the other. Let us say somebody blocked you, so be it, let somebody block you.

“But if God wants something better for you, even after that blocking, you will get something else.

“I plead with all of us that we should not play the do-or-die, except I get it, let the party sink. We are taking inventory of all what is happening in all the states and I promise that we will try and use as many people as possible.

“There are challenges in some states. People may deliberately block you. You may even be the best candidate in that particular constituency, but let us move ahead.”

Speaking further, he said “I’m yet to see those who can beat the PDP. They will continue to make the noise but they cannot beat us, because the gap between PDP and others is very wide.

“The way we do things and the way they do things are very different; the way we talk and the way they talk are very different; the way we reason and the way they reason are very different.

“Our commitment to transform this country and their thinking about Nigeria are very different. And I promise you my party men and women and indeed all Nigerians that with your support, collectively we must move this country to where we want it to be.

“Every day, every week and every month, we must add something; we must change and continue to change.”

2015 ELECTION: Lagos Prophet Makes Shocking Revelation

          Gov Rochas Okorocha

The General Overseer of Galilee Christian Center in Lagos, Prophet Williams Onuoha, has predicted that the current governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, would become Nigeria’s president in 2015.

According to him, for this to happen, Okorocha would have to adhere to God’s direction, adding that only a running mate from the South West region can give him the presidency.

In a recent interview with Daily Sun, Onuoha, who is seen and referred to by many who attend his church as a highly gifted prophet of God, said he saw the vision in 2011 and now it’s coming to pass.

“In 2011, I saw in a vision that the present governor of Imo State Owelle Rochas Okorocha will be president in 2015. And in one of the national dailies recently, the governor said he would be president in 2015 and that it had been prophesied. True. I had seen this vision, but there are things that needs to be done before this prophesy can come to pass and one of them is that only a running mate from the South West region can give him the presidency.

“I have never met the governor before. When he said last week in the papers that he would become president in 2015 and that it had been prophesied, I was not surprised. What I saw in 2011, the governor said in 2014. God is truly wonderful,” the prophet said.

Onuoha said he had predicted the global economic meltdown and that a black man will become president of the United States.

He explained that he has made so many revelations and all have come to pass.

The man of God said: “Three weeks to when the Ebola virus came into Nigeria I had told my members to pray seriously so that the country can escape the calamity that was to befall her. We did pray and by His grace we escaped.

“I feel it is time to free this country from the grip of the devil and his agents. Look at our youths; they lack direction. This is because the head is corrupt. When the head is corrupt the body will definitely be corrupt.

“Many of our industries today are controlled by the devil. Look at music, for instance. Even some gospel artistes have now fallen by the wayside. This country needs God’s intervention, and she needs it very fast. That is why true men of God should not relent in praying for this nation. Many are no longer with God. Even in the house of God is corruption. Pastors, bishops now preach money. They no longer preach God’s word to the people. When the wicked are in power the people suffer.”

Asked how he came about the name of his church, he said an Angel revealed it to him in trance.

Recall recently, Governor Okorocha had boasted that he would defeat President Goodluck Jonathan in the forthcoming 2015 elections saying:

“I have the capacity to govern the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I must also make it abundantly clear that the PDP and indeed, President Goodluck Jonathan, cannot defeat me in the forthcoming general election.”

Speaking last week Monday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) rally, Okorocha proudly declared that he would be the president in 2015.
