After the divorce Rabiu’s son Aliyu lived with his mother and didn’t want his father to be the custodian. But Rabiu Yusuf couldn’t stand it and found the solution. He just went to ex-wife’s home “with annoyance”, as he said, and forced their son back to his house.
“When I brought him back to my house, I chained him and locked him up inside the room so that he does not escape and go back to his mother but unfortunately he died.”According to Bauchi state command Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Haruna Mohammed, it was not the only criminal case Yusuf Rabiu was involved in. Together with one Ismail Idris he also killed the latter’s 10-year-old son. The little boy was chained and detained by his father for ten days. Although the child was later taken to Rimi Clinic in Bauchi, he didn’t survive.

Mohammed said the case is under investigation now. According to him the suspects will be charged to Court for prosecution.
Unfortunatelly, the cases of child abuse are not a rare phenomenon in Nigeria. Some time ago even a famous comedian Wale Gates came out and shared his story about his abusive father. The celebrity also shared the opinion that “African parents sometimes cross the line between disciplining a child to torturing that child”.
