
Three policemen were last week sentenced for two years imprisonment by an Oyingbo-based court in Lagos.
The court was headed by Magistrate A. Demi-Ajayi of an Ebute-Metta Magistrate’s Court and had ruled that the policemen were negligent which resulted in the stealing of their AK-47.

The convicts, Sergeant Felix Okwa, 47, Corporal Ogu Romanus, 46, and Constable Sunday Okoh, 34, had been invited by one Kezzy who gave them drugged supper at Regional Hotel, also in Ishashi, claiming he wanted to reward them for a job they did for him.
After the policemen fell asleep, their weapons were stolen. Three AK-47 rifles and 90 live ammunition were taken from the helpless men of law.

The hotel manager reported the matter to the Ishashi police station, after the trio was arrested and charged to court.
Apart from being jailed for two years, they will also serve a six-month community service after completing their jail term.
