Microsoft Set To Replace Internet Explorer With A New Browser

Microsoft might replace Internet Explorer, its web browser with a new one. A report from Zdnet is stating that the software giant is working on a new browser for Windows 10.



The new “lightweight” browser is codenamed Spartan and will use Microsoft’s Chakra JavaScript engine and Trident rendering engine instead of WebKit, said the report. Versions of Webkit are used in Safari and Chrome Microsoft is expect to release Windows 10 sometime in the summer of 2015.

Spartan will be more like Firefox and Chrome and support extensions. It is not known whether Spartan will run on Android and iOS as well.

The report states that the new Spartan browser will be bundled with the desktop and mobile versions of the forthcoming Windows 10 OS. Microsoft has scheduled an even on January 21st where it will showcase Windows 10 features and it might also unveil the new browser at this event.
