EBOLA OUTBREAK: Red Cross Worker Dies in Sierra Leone

The Red Cross has lost its first worker to the Ebola virus, the organization said on Thursday, January 15.

The unidentified employee, a male nurse, is said to have succumbed to the disease on Tuesday, January 12, in Sierra Leone.


The deceased worker is said to have worked at an Ebola treatment center in Kenema before his death.

The humanitarian organization is investigating how he came to be infected and 29 people who made contact with him are being monitored for symptoms.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization has said that cases of Ebola are now on the decline in West Africa.
