In an attempt to find a solution to the issues surrounding the current strike embarked upon by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), the Federal Government will tomorrow meet the leaders of the union, News Agency Of Nigeria reports.
PENGASSAN President, Mr. Francis Johnson made the disclosure via telephone to the News Agency Of Nigeria (NAN ) yesterday.

PENGASSAN is joined by the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, on the definite strike. The unions are requesting for:
1. Retardation of staff promotion in the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF).
2. non-standardisation of nomenclature and collective bargaining agreement of the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Agency (NNRA) in line with what obtains in other agencies in the oil and gas industry.
3. Alleged refusal of the management of Addax/Petrostuff Nigeria Limited and Chevron/Sudelletra to recall sacked staff.
4. Alleged Petrobras management unprocedural release of staff and its refusal to renew expired collective agreement
5. Unjust termination of appointment of the Port Harcourt zonal secretary and treasurer of PENGASSAN and NUPENG, respectively.
“Government has called the union for a meeting against Wednesday. The strike is ongoing we have started and everyone can see it. There is total compliance in some of the oil installations in the country as the strike continues (Tuesday).”He commended the oil workers for their compliance to the industrial action.

Last week, The Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, announced that sixty-one ships laden with containers, foods and petroleum products are expected in Lagos ports from 8-28 December, 2014.
