Wenger responds to Usmanov's Criticisms

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admits to being disappointed in criticism from shareholder Alisher Usmanov. Wenger was speaking before Arsenal's Champions League match with Borussia Dortmund, after Usmanov had criticised Wenger's inability to admit his own mistakes.
Arsenal lost to Manchester United on Saturday evening, and have now won just four of their 12 Premier League matches this season.

Wenger rejected talk of crisis with the Arsenal camp, and also criticised Usmanov for making his feelings public rather than speaking to him directly.

"I've shown I can take criticism in the 18 years I have been here," Wenger said. "Everyone has the right to an opinion. We must show solidarity.

"When we have something to say to each other, we should do it face to face. We don’t need to go to the newspapers."

The Frenchman also claims that Arsenal will still be successful this season.

"I believe in what I do and I believe in my players, their quality and their spirit. There's a very strong bond inside the team and inside the club. We will have a very strong season."

The issue may be that what Wenger constitutes success may not match up to the ambitions of Usmanov and many supporters.
