Stop Importing Mercenaries To Edo- Oshiomhole Tells PDP

Governor Adams Oshiomhole

Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole has warned the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to stop importing mercenaries to register in their wards to boost their numbers for next year’s general elections in the state.
Speaking after monitoring the ongoing Continuous Voter’s Registration exercise at Ward 10, Iyamho, Etsako West Local Government Area of the state, the governor alleged that buses conveyed the mercenaries into the state to register, adding that the mercenaries were given cover by some suspected soldiers.

Oshiomhole said he heard that somewhere in Uromi, a PDP leader brought in soldiers to provide escort, for the mercenaries brought in from neighbouring states. He said he finds the development very worrisome because the whole idea is not to import mercenary voters.

The governor further complained that the time slated for the Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise in the state is not enough because many people who want to register cannot due to the allocation of one Direct Data Capture Machine per ward to cover the large numbers.
